Stitch announced today that they have partnered with the Sir Bobby Robson Cancer Trials Research Centre, part of the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and a member of the Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre Network (ECMC).
The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is partnering with Stitch to improve the patient experience on an upcoming clinical trial for cancer patients. The goals of the partnership include improving recruitment, and helping participants stay compliant with the study protocol. The research team will also be using the Stitch platform to ask participants for their feedback on their study that will be used to streamline study operations.
Dr Ben Hood, Cancer Research Nurse Consultant said:
“I use Stitch to speed up my recruitment process, and support my patients. By making it easier for them to navigate complex screening and study requirements, I can reduce delays in them being randomised, improve their experience, and reduce the pressure on them and research staff alike.
Getting feedback will also help me identify areas for service improvements.”
Jonathan Moshinsky, CEO of Stitch, said:
“We couldn’t be more excited to partner with the NHS and help them with their patient engagement and protocol compliance. This is exactly what we envisioned when we started Stitch - making a real impact in healthcare. Seeing this fantastic research team embrace our platform on a live trial is a fantastic milestone in our ongoing partnership.”
Stitch’s platform feedback will help refine this study, and also guide future trial improvements as both companies continue to create a better, more effective clinical trial experience for participants, sites and sponsors.

About the Sir Bobby Robson Cancer Trials Research Centre
The Sir Bobby Robson Cancer Trials Research Centre at the Northern Centre for Cancer Care, Freeman Hospital in Newcastle, was officially opened by Sir Bobby Robson in 2009. He was also one of the first patients to receive treatment there.
Patients come from across the North East and Cumbria for treatment at the centre, which offers hope for people with advanced cancer. The research and clinical trials undertaken there are part of long-term national and international efforts into the disease.
This unit is part of the Experimental Cancer Medicines (ECMC) network and is one of 17 ECMCs across the UK, funded by Cancer Research UK, which deliver phase one and two clinical trials. ECMCs work in conjunction with local NHS facilities to provide cancer patients with access to cutting-edge cancer treatments.
About Stitch
Stitch is the patient engagement platform purpose built for research sites. We make it easy for sites to support trial participants from the first time they click on an ad, through to the end of their trial.
Sites that use Stitch can shorten enrolment, ensure participants show up ready for every visit, and ultimately run more research.
